Product Marketing Specialist

OVERVIEW:

Direct Plus Food Group is a fast-growing sales, merchandising and distribution company representing many fine brands to the retail market. Our product offering is carefully selected and continually maintained. We believe in providing our customers with products of the highest quality made by a selection of trusted brands including Grimm’s Fine Foods, McSweeney’s Premium Jerky and Meat Snacks, Audrey’s Patisserie and Saporé Foods.

OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE:

The Product Marketing Specialist will be responsible for overseeing touchpoints between product development, to label and product packaging. This individual will interface with multiple teams including Sales, Product Development, Regulatory and Operations. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the individual will work collaboratively with our Marketing and Sales team, to deliver results for the Direct Plus Food Group portfolio of brands.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work on the development and testing of new products, line extensions, recipes and product enhancements from concept generation, through to production launch
• Oversee label/packaging for all Direct Plus Food Group products across multiple brands
• Develop and maintain product packaging brand standards to ensure consistent application
• Coordinate project meetings with cross functional teams and develop best practice guidelines for defining project scope, timeline and complexity
• Have an understanding for policies and regulations as they relate to packaging and coordinate effectively with Regulatory/ Quality Assurance team to ensure compliance
• Provide technical support and guidance during the product development process for all packaging formats and materials
• Use project management tools to inform cross functional teams of status updates
• Identify and implement efficient processes for managing product information
• Serve as an internal / external liaison for all relevant categories’ product related issues
• Analyze product performance, competitive environment and consumer and packaging trends
• Manage external agency and vendor partner relationships
• Work closely with the marketing team to ensure proper implementation of the marketing strategy including product launches, promotion and communication
• Track all product marketing initiatives, create weekly/monthly reports and assist in preparation of annual budget, analyzing variances
• Provide pricing strategy recommendations
• Present new product lines/products to prospective and current clients
• Identify and participate in tradeshows and workshops as necessary
• Special duties as required

REQUIREMENTS:

• Energetic self-starter with outstanding time management, organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
• Creative thinker who can take initiative and is knowledgeable in graphic design, print production and consumer packaged goods
• Experience managing and launching new products from concept to launch
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate meaningful information to all levels of internal and partner organizations concisely
• Problem solver with the ability to analyze and prioritize to meet business objectives
• Performs well in a fast-paced environment and high-pressure situations
• Be open to, enthusiastically ask for, and act on feedback when received
• Well versed in MS Office and various Adobe Products
• Ability to visit suppliers, attend industry or tradeshow events
• Well versed in current and upcoming regulatory framework
• Travel required
• 3-5 years in product marketing, CPG preferred
